“You are free to make whatever choice you want, but you are not free from its consequences.”
The SOS (Speak Out Society) Q&A is posted regularly to stimulate fun, healthy, and thought-provoking discussions within the Speak Out Society community and its followers.
It would also be a good way to discover other bloggers with similar interests as you get to know them through their answers.
Who knows? Through these questions, you might also learn something new about yourself.
RULES:
1. Respond to the question in the comment section. Make sure to leave a link to your blog.
2. Leave comments on others’ responses. (Only if you want to. It might be fun, though.)
3. Always be kind. No judging.
4. You may also write your own post related to the question, and create a pingback or include a link to this post for us to read it.
5. Speak out!
Question: What would you consider doing if there were no consequences?
According to Dennis Potter, “Everything we do has consequences.”
But what if all the effects of our actions in the next 24 hours would just vanish into thin air? If there will be no trace left of what you do within that time, what will you do then?
Will you finally confess your feelings to your friend you’ve been longing for in so long? Will you beat up that guy who pushed you around? Are you going to do actions that will benefit you or hurt others?
It would be interesting to know what our mind comes up with when we imagine an alternate reality where nothing we do has any effect on our future.

Whoa. Tough question! Certainly made me think, and think some more because for me if the effects of what I’d do will just vanish, then it’s useless to do it then. But that’s me being deep. if I’m going to think like a normal young adult, I’ll probably shop till I drop and then get reimbursed in 24 hours. LOL!

There has to be more to it than shopping, surely?

Not that I can think of right now. But that’s the primary objective if this scenario would happen. LOL!

One thing came to mind immediately:
Hypothetically if I lived in an alternate reality where humans could breathe underwater, I’d love to explore the ocean. Like the deep, dark, undiscovered ocean. Hypothetically no other creature would harm me either (because getting swallowed up by a whale would stink). I think that’d be rad.

That’s a great idea. No danger of being swallowed by a whale though, unless you are as small as plankton, or maybe a squid.
Sharks perhaps…

I would do the same as I do now but my mind would be at ease with my actions. I’d love to leave my job and commit to beer blogging full time
with no regard for the people who I might put in a bad spot but this is what I want to do but my conscience (and wallet) hold me back

Nice to know that full-time blogging would suffice. I am retired, so I can already blog (more or less) full-time.

I read this book when I was twenty-five years old. (Forty years ago)

If there were no consequences, I would like to follow the premise.
Make a list of six things, and assign each a number from 1-6.
Throw a die, and act on whatever number that falls on.
This could involve just leaving the house and getting on the first train to anywhere.
Or giving everything away and starting from scratch.
Any wild notion or idea that comes to mind.
I enjoy these posts, as they make us all think.
Best wishes, Pete.

That’s a very interesting take on it. The book looks intriguing. Although, curiously I ask, what is a cult classic?

It was a long time ago, SOS. One of those ‘you had to be there’ moments I think.
